What It's All About ....
The Town of Moultonborough is undertaking a site study in follow-up of the recommendation of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Community Services and Facilities (BRC), that the Town should “… pursue development of a facility that includes an indoor gymnasium, Recreation Department office, program and storage space that would be on existing school land or property adjacent to school facilities.” [Currently estimated at 9K+/- s.f.]
This recommendation followed on a proposal to build a multi-service community center to serve as the home for the (former) Town’s Visiting Nurse Service, its Human Services (e.g. Welfare), the daily Meals & Meals on Wheels site now offered through the Lions Club, and elderly services. [Estimated at 13.5K+/- s.f. w/expansion by 3.5k+/-]. While the initial footprint will be of the size generally anticipated by the BRC [9k+/- s.f.], the SelectBoard has asked that the Consultant to look at potential future expansions.
This Consultant for this effort is CMK Architects P.A. In addition to Town Staff, the School Board and SelectBoard will each have a liaison present at Team meetings to keep the boards informed on the discussion and iterative process. FormalPublic Board votes will be taken at each step as the initial four sites to be reviewed are narrowed to two and then one.
The team meetings will be posted on the calendar for the general public should they wish to observe. While the team is not considered to be a “public body” under RSA 91-A it has been deemed to be in the best interest of the public trust to so post it. Questions from the public will be addressed by the Team leader if time allows and if it is about a matter of fact (i.e. acreage, soils, square footage, wetlands, etc.) and not a debating point of policy.
