[ARCHIVED] Boat Registration Renewal Update

As boats get tucked away for the winter, many boat owners are wondering where their registration renewal letter is for the 2025 season. Normally, letters begin going out to boat owners from the DMV in October and we begin issuing renewals at that time. The State of NH has had to implement some changes to the design of their boat decals and the fees they collect for registrations. Because of this, boat renewals for the coming year are running a little behind the normal schedule.

The Moultonborough Town Clerk’s office has been following these changes and, based on our conversations with the DMV, we hope to have decals sent to us sometime in December. When boat owners receive their letter, they can still choose to mail their payment to the Town Clerk’s office instead of sending it directly to the state. This will cost a little more, but registering your boat at the local level is the only way that the town is able to collect any of those fees.

The other benefit to registering your boat through the town is that mailings from the Town Clerk’s office do get forwarded if you’re wintering somewhere else, whereas mailings from the State of NH will not get forwarded (they bounce back to Concord if you have mail forwarding set up).

We will post online when boat decals/registrations for the 2025 season become available. Please reach out to the Town Clerk’s office with any questions you may have at (603) 476-2347 or TownClerk@MoultonboroughNH.gov.
