[ARCHIVED] DOG LICENSES DUE APRIL 30TH PER STATE LAW

DOG LICENSES DUE APRIL 30TH PER STATE LAW.

All dogs licensed by April 30th will be automatically entered into Moultonborough’s Top Dog contest which includes the Dog of the Month Drawing and the Dog of the Year Election! (Owners can opt out.)

Dog of the Month Drawing: Every month, the Town Clerk’s office will randomly select one license number from the pool of dog licenses that were issued before the state deadline. This Dog of the Month will win bragging rights and have their photo and bio displayed in our office for the month.

Dog of the Year Election: Early next year, the Town Clerk’s office, in collaboration with Moultonborough Central School, will organize a mock election where MCS Fifth Graders vote for the Dog of the Year. The candidates on the ballot will be the Dogs of the Month from 2025. The winner will have their photo hanging in the Town Clerk’s office for the entire year and win a dog-themed gift basket with items graciously donated by local businesses including Meadow Pond Animal Hospital, Interware Development, and 603 Paws.

Rabies vaccine must be current to receive a dog license so if your dog has received a rabies vaccine this year, please send their current rabies certificate along with payment. Keep reading for information about a rabies clinic right here at Town Hall!

You may obtain your dog license in one of four ways:

1. In person: The Town Clerk’s office is open Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4 pm.

2. Online: Visit MoultonboroughNH.gov and look for “Online Bill Pay” then “Online Town Clerk Payments” and follow the prompts. We will process the transaction and mail you the new tag.

3. By mail: Send the proper fee (highlighted below), a note with the dog’s name and your phone number, and a self-addressed stamped return envelope to:

Town Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 15, Moultonborough, NH  03254

4. Through secure payment drop box: Inside an envelope marked “Town Clerk,” place the proper fee, a note with the dog’s name and your phone number, and a self-addressed stamped return envelope. Leave this in the secure drop box outside to the left of Town Hall’s front door. We will mail the new tag to you.

PRICING: The fee is $7.50 for a spayed/neutered dog, $10 for an unaltered dog, and $3.00 for the first dog registered to an owner over 65 years (additional dogs are the regular fee). Group rates are available for households with five or more dogs.

We can accept checks made out to Town of Moultonborough, cash, or credit cards if paying in person or online. There is a 3% processing fee added by your credit card company for all card transactions.

Per state law, a civil forfeiture fine of $25 will be issued for each dog that remains unlicensed, plus a $1 per month late penalty.

Need to update your dog’s rabies? The Town Clerk’s office and NH Humane Society will be hosting a rabies clinic at Town Hall on Saturday, April 19th. Appointments are not required but are helpful. More details…
