A diverse community on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee, gateway to the White Mountains seeks a Code, Compliance & Health Officer. Responsibilities include reviewing building permit applications for compliance with building codes, conducting compliance inspections, and participating in the enforcement of building, health, zoning and environmental laws and codes.

Candidate will be knowledgeable in the building and health regulatory environment and proficient in current building practices and current building codes to include an understanding of structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades.  Familiarity with planning and zoning principals, wetlands, stormwater, and other environmental issues, and other applicable land use matters preferred.  Candidate shall be skilled in written and oral communications and shall collaborate effectively with local engineers, contractors, and citizens.

Preferred minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree with a major in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field and five (5) years of experience in a related field (engineering, construction management, etc.) or broad supervision of all aspects of construction ranging from single family to commercial/industrial and institutional uses or in lieu of a degree any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and ability. Certification in IBC or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
