New Police Chief Hired

The Moultonborough Select Board is pleased to announce the hiring of John Monaghan III as the new Police Chief effective January 15, 2018.

Chief Monaghan served most recently as the Chief of Police in the Town of Franconia, NH from August 2012 until January 8th, 2018. He also served as a Trooper for the NH State Police from 2002 to 2012 and as a police officer in the City of Lebanon NH Police Department from 1999 to 2002.

Chief Monaghan is a certified NH police officer, has a masters degree in leadership and management and currently lives in Easton, NH. He and his family will be relocating to the Moultonborough area later this year.

A ceremonial swearing in will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 7:00pm at the Town Hall prior to the regular Select Board meeting.

The Board will hold a welcome reception for Chief Monaghan prior to the swearing in ceremony beginning at 6:30 in the Town Hall lobby area. The public is invited to attend.

The Select Board members wish to express their sincere appreciation to retiring Chief Leonard Wetherbee for his six years of dedicated service to the police department and the citizens of Moultonborough and wish him a long and happy retirement.
