Is your pup the Top Dog in town?
License your dog between January 1st and April 30th to be automatically entered into Moultonborough’s Top Dog contest! This two-part contest consists of the Dog of the Month Drawing and the Dog of the Year Election.
Dog of the Month Drawing: Each month, the Town Clerk’s office randomly generates a new number between 1 and the highest tag number that was issued by April 30th. We will contact the owner of the dog with that tag number to let them know that their dog has been selected as the Dog of the Month! (Owners can opt out if not interested in participating.)
This lucky canine will have their photo and bio hanging in the Town Clerk’s office for the whole month and be entered into the Dog of the Year Election!
Dog of the Year Election: At the beginning of each new year, the Town Clerk’s office, in collaboration with Moultonborough Central School (MCS), will organize a mock election where Fifth Graders get to elect a Dog of the Year. Pictures and bios of the Dogs of the Month from the prior year will be presented as candidates for MCS voters to review prior to casting their ballot.
The dog of the year will have their photo and bio hanging in the Town Clerk’s office for the whole year and win a gift basket made up of dog-themed items generously donated by local sponsors! Thank you to Meadow Pond Animal Hospital, 603 Paws, and Interware Development for your donations!
Per RSA 466:1, all dogs four months of age and older must be licensed annually with the Town Clerk by April 30th. For any questions, please reach out to the Town Clerk’s office at (603) 476-2347 or TownClerk@MoultonboroughNH.gov
